POCO M2 Pro - A Redmi Note 9 Pro without ads

Since the launch of Poco F1, the sub-brand of Xiaomi, POCO has become pretty popular in India. Poco is known to launch smartphones with some amazing specs in a budget price range. And now Poco launched yet another budget smartphone in India, the Poco M2 Pro. So, here is everything about the brand new Poco M2 Pro.

Design and Display


Poco M2 Pro has a thickness of 8.8 mm and weigh about 209 grams. It has a width of 76.7 mm and height of 165.8 mm. The phone has a glass back which has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and has a dual tone design. However the frame of the phone is made of plastic. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side of the phone.

Coming to the display, it is a 6.67 inches (16.49 cm) bezel less IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and pixel density of 395 ppi. The screen to body ratio is 84.46% and the aspect ratio is 20:9. The display supports HDR10 as well and it is advertised to have 450 nits brightness.  The only disadvantage here is the display only has 60 Hz refresh rate. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and has a centre punch-hole cut-out for the front facing camera.

Performance


Poco M2 Pro comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G octa core (2.3 GHz, Dual core, Kryo 465 + 1.8 GHz, Hexa Core, Kryo 465) processor having Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU. The phone comes with 4 GB Ram and 64 GB storage, 6 GB Ram and 64 GB storage and 6 GB Ram and 128 GB storage options. With the Snapdragon 720G processor, performance should not be an issue. But if you want a smooth gaming experience, we recommend buying the 6 GB Ram variant.

Cameras


Poco M2 Pro comes with a quad camera setup on the back. The primary sensor is a 48 MP f/1.8 sensor. The remaining three cameras are an 8 MP f/2.2 Ultrawide sensor with 119 degree field of view, 5 MP f/2.4 macro and 2 MP f/2.4 depth sensors. It has features like digital zoom, auto flash, face detection, phase detection auto focus, continuous shooting and High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode. The primary camera supports video recording up-to 4K @30 fps and slow motion up-to 720p@960fps. The primary camera supports gyro-EIS for stabilization.   

On the front, the display has a centre mounted hole-punch which houses the 16 MP f/2.5 front camera. The front camera can record up-to 1080p @30/120 fps.


Other Specifications and Price 


Poco M2 Pro comes with a massive 5000 mAh battery. The phone also supports 33 Watts fast charging. The phone has a USB Type-C charging port and has a headphone jack. The phone has a dual sim slot and the storage is also expandable up-to 512 GB using a micro SD card. Poco M2 Pro runs on Android 10 with MIUI 11 ( Poco version) on top.

Poco M2 Pro is almost similar in every way to the Redmi Note 9 Pro, the major difference being the slightly premium design, a smaller battery and faster charging. So if you are planning to buy a smartphone under Rs 15,000 Poco M2 Pro is worth considering. Poco M2 Pro is available in three colour options Out of the Blue, Green and Greener, Two Shades of Black and the price starts at Rs 13,999 ($188) for the 4 GB/64 GB version, Rs 14,999 ($200) for the 6 GB/64 GB version and Rs 16,999 ($227) for the 6 GB/128 GB version.
